Das Star-Wars-Blu-ray-Set: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith
Der dritte und letzte Film der Prequels ist nicht nur der beste dieser, sondern sieht auf Blu-ray auch am tollsten aus! Lest hier den genauen Bericht zu Revenge of the Sith.
Der Chef bei der Arbeit
Der Film:
Anakins endgültiger Fall und seine Wandlung zu Darth Vader sorgen in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith für spannende Unterhaltung. Die beste der Prequel-Episoden unterhält, fesselt und berührt sogar. Lucas schafft es diesmal wirklich, Emotionen in die Geschichte zu bringen und die letzte Stunde ist sowohl ein spektakulärer, als auch ein emotionaler Showdown, wie man ihn schon lange nicht mehr gesehen hat. Doch auch in der ersten Hälfte gibt es Highlights: Die Schlacht in der Atmosphäre von Coruscant kämpft mit der Schlacht um den zweiten Todesstern um den Titel der besten Raumschlacht der gesamten Saga. Hayden Christensen und Natalie Portman scheinen zwischen Episode II und III noch einmal in den Schauspielunterricht gegangen zu sein, denn hier funktioniert die Chemie zwischen ihnen deutlich besser. Mit General Grevious hat man ausserdem einen genialen neuen Schurken geschaffen und Ian Mac Diarmid stiehlt als Imperator allen die Show. Mit Revenge of the Sith gelang Lucas ein würdiger Abschluss einer erfolgreichen Trilogie, die Star Wars wiederbelebte und vor allem auch einer jüngeren Generation wieder schmackhaft machte.
Der Blu-ray-Transfer:
Wow. Einfach nur Wow. Nachdem Episode I und II schon gut aussahen, merzt Episode III alle doch vorhandenen Unschönheiten dieses Transfers aus. Das Bild ist perfekt. Punkt. Tiefste Schwarztöne kommen ebenso zur Geltung wie die feurigen Rottöne auf Mustafar. Was hier vorliegt, kann locker mit der Blu-ray-Qualität von Avatar mithalten. Beim 6.1-Ton gibt es wie bei der gesamten Prequel-Trilogie auch nur Lob auszusprechen. Dies ist eine perfekte Blu-ray und Grund genug, endlich das DVD-Format völlig vom Markt zu verdrängen.
Die Special Features:
Coruscant, Utapau und Mustafar, die Wookieheimat Kashyyk, sind die Planeten, welche die Untermenus ausmachen. Bei Kashyyk hat man noch die Planeten dazugenommen, die kurz in der Order-66-Montage zu sehen sind.
Deleted/Extended Scenes:
Als erste geschnittene Szene im Coruscant-Menu kriegen wir in Elevator Antics eine Reihe peinlicher, "humoristischer" Dialoge zwischen Obi und Ani zu sehen, die der Macht sei Dank geschnitten wurden. Solche Szenen waren bereits auf dem DVD-Release zu sehen und hätten den ersten Akt unnötig verlängert. Escape Through the Hangar ist eine weitere Szene an Bord von Grevious' Raumschiff. Da diese Actionsequenz hier so unfertig dargestellt wird, ist es schwer zu sagen, ob sie in den Film gepasst hätte. Changes to the Constitution ist eine neue Szene zwischen Anakin und Palpatine und somit das Higlight der Deleted Scenes.
Auf Utapau gibt es ein achteinhalb Minuten langes Animatic der Actionsequenz auf dem Planeten. Diese habe übrigens Steven Spielberg persönlich überwacht. Interessanterweise hat diese krude Test-Animation hier bei den Deleted Scenes eigentlich nichts zu suchen. Auch unter dem Mustafar-Menu findet man lediglich zwei Animatics.
Kashyyk und Order 66 enthalten neben zwei weiteren langen Animatics drei geschnittene Szenen. Anakin Kills Shaak Ti zeigt wie Anakin die Jedi-Ritterin im Tempel ersticht. Shaak Ti scheint das Glück auf ihrer Seite zu haben, denn man hat zwei Szenen, die ihren Tod darstellen, auf dem Schneideraumboden liegengelassen. Jedi Imposters at the Temple ist ganz witzig: Hier verkleiden sich Clone Trooper als Jedi, um eine Falle zu stellen. Das Angebot der geschnittenen Szenen zu Episode III wird mit Yoda Communes with Qui-Gon abgerundet. Diese Szene, in der Yoda Qui Gons Stimme hört, ist eine, die sich die Fans längst im Kopf ausgedacht haben. So kann das Resultat nur enttäuschend sein, was aber vor allem daran liegt, dass weder Yoda fertig animiert ist, noch Liam Neeson sein Voiceover aufgenommen hatte.
Interviews:
Im Overview zu Coruscant kann man sich schlau machen, welche Cameo-Auftritte von ILM-Mitarbeiter zu sehen sind und wer die Geschichte von Samuel L. Jacksons pinkem Lichtschwert noch nicht kennen sollte, kriegt diese hier auch zu hören. Bei Utapau gibt es kein individuelles Interview, sondern nur den Überblick, wo man schön gemachte Modelle von Utupaus Architektur sieht. Heiss wird es auf dem vulkanischen Planeten Mustafar. Das riesige Modell im Overview beeindruckt mit seiner falschen Lava. Auch hier überrascht die Tatasache, dass viele der Hintergrundlandschaften nicht etwa im Computer entstanden sind, sondern handgemacht waren. Natalie Portmans Interpretation ihrer Rolle ist dagegen weniger spannend.
The Collection:
Die Anzahl von Konzeptmodellen, Maquettes und Kostümen zu Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith ist erschlagend. Von den Bäumen auf Kashyyk zu den exotischen Pflanzen auf Felucia gibt es hier Design an Design mit dazugehörigem Videokommentar. George Lucas verleiht allen abgesegneten Designs einen Stempel mit dem Wort "Fabuloso". Die Designer freuen sich jedes Mal, wenn dieser Stempel verliehen wird, denn sie haben auch sensationelle Arbeit geleistet. Freuen kann man sich auch, dass es hier bei diesen Extras so viel zu entdecken gibt.
Concept Art Gallery:
Nicht alle hier abgebildeten Konzepte wurden mit dem "Fabuloso"-Stempel geehrt und sind deshalb umso spannender. So war das Kashyyk-Design zum Beispiel noch viel näher an der Version des berühmt-berüchtigten Holiday-Specials.
Fazit:
Anakins Reise zur dunklen Seite schliesst die Prequel-Trilogie mit einer absoluten Referenz-Blu-ray ab. Die Extras sind zwar wieder kurz, doch zahlreich und in ihrer Vielfalt schon beinahe ermüdend. Wiederum ist es schade, dass man keine ausführliche Dokumentation wie auf der DVD findet. Aber eigentlich kennen wir Lucas ja und wissen, dass dies nicht die letzte, ultimative Veröffentlichung seiner Saga bleiben wird.
