Goethe gewinnt
Alexander Sokurov gewinnt mit seiner Version des Goethe-Klassikers "Faust" den Goldenen Löwen am Filmfestival von Venedig. Darstellerpreise gab's für Michael Fassbender und Deanie Yip.
Schönes Fräulein, darf ich's wagen, Euch einen Löwen anzutragen?
Die hochgehandelten Filme von Roman Polanski, David Cronenberg oder George Clooney sind allesamt leer ausgegangen. Stattdessen vergab die von Darren Aronofsky präsidierte Jury den Goldenen Löwen nach Russland: Faust heisst der Siegerfilm von Alexander Sokurov. Die deutsch gesprochene Version von Goethes Bühnenklassiker vermochte die Jury offenbar zu überzeugen. Genauso wie auch der sperrige Überraschungsfilm People Mountain People Sea, dessen Regisseur Shangjun Cai mit dem Silbernen Löwen für die beste Regie ausgezeichnet wurde.
Den Löwen als bester männlicher Hauptdarsteller heimste sich Frauenschwarm Michael Fassbender ein für seine Darstellung eines Sexbesessenen in Shame. Beste weibliche Hauptdarstellerin war die Chinesin Deannie Yip für ihre Darstellung einer treuen Hausangestellten in A Simple Life. Den "Premio Marcello Mastroianni" für junge Schauspieler gewannen die beiden jungen Hauptdarsteller von Himizu, Shôta Sometani und Fumi Nikaidô.
Der Spezialpreis der Jury bleibt im Land: Emanuele Crialese erhält diesen für Terraferma. Andrea Arnolds Romanverfilmung Wuthering Heights schliesslich erhielt den Preis für die beste Fotografie, der griechische Vertreter Alps denjenigen für das beste Drehbuch.
